Acute Health Effects: From MSDS
Potential Health Effects:
Eye Contact: Direct ocular exposure to large amounts may cause eye irritation, but no permanent eye injury is expected.
Skin Contact: May cause skin irritation upon prolonged and excessive contact. however, as part of a normal daily hygiene program, no skin irritation is expected.
Ingestion: As part of a normal daily oral hygiene program, incidental quantities ingested pose no threat to health.
Inhalation: No hazards expected under normal conditions of use.
Chronic Health Effects: From MSDS
Chronic: Ingestion of large amounts of sodium saccharin has been linked to tumor development in rodents. As a result, sodium saccharin has been designated as a potential rodent carcinogen by NTP and IARC. However, based on epidemiological and other supporting data, incidental ingestion of saccharin as part of a normal, daily oral hygiene program does not pose a significant health risk to humans.

Sodium saccharin, CAS# 128-44-9, is listed as a carcinogen or potential carcinogen by either the National Toxicology Program (NTP), the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) or OSHA.

Skin Contact: In case of contact, rinse area with water.
Ingestion: Drink 2-4 ounces of a clear liquid. Get medical attention.
