A blood pressure reading of 140/90 mmHg or higher over time is considered high blood pressure. Your doctor will usually take your blood pressure at different times on several different days, and if it stays at 140/90 or higher, you will be diagnosed with high blood pressure. If you have diabetes or chronic kidney disease, you should keep your blood pressure levels at or below 130/80.
