Terrestrial
The Environmental Laboratory has conducted numerous studies dealing with terrestrial and riparian resources on Corps of Engineers lands and military installations. Research has included habitat analysis, species inventories, restoration and impact assessment, and development of management techniques for forested regions and open habitats, such as prairies and shrublands. A variety of technical notes have been prepared on inventory techniques and management practices suitable for upland and transitional areas. Specific topics addressed include forest stand management, snag management, buffer zone development and management, and prairie/grassland restoration/management. |
