New York, NY . . . Petitions for naturalization filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York (covering Kings (Brooklyn), Queens, Richmond (Staten Island), Nassau, and Suffolk Counties), 1865 - 1937, are now available on microfilm at the National Archives Northeast Region - New York City. Our office maintains naturalization records for the Eastern District of New York, 1865 - 1991; years not included in the new microfilm series are also available for research. This microfilming project -- along with Microfilm Publication M1972 - Southern District of New York Petitions for Naturalization 1897 - 1944 -- was undertaken to facilitate the self-guided research of genealogists, historians, and legal researchers.

Researcher note:

This microfilm series is available in our research room with staff assistance as needed. Self-service microfilm copies are $.30 per page. Please see NARA staff for information about certified copies.

The National Archives Northeast Region maintains archival records from Federal agencies and courts in New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Naturalization records are one source of genealogical information. Our knowledgeable staff can also assist with a multitude of other records related to genealogy. Researchers coming to the Regional Archives should review the researcher guidelines and facility information.
