NARA's Northeast Region ensures, for all people, ready access to essential evidence that documents the rights of American citizens, the actions of Federal officials, and the national experience, with particular attention given to the northeastern portion of the United States, and Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

    • Federal court proceedings in criminal, civil, and admiralty cases
    • New Deal era projects involving flood control and harbor improvements

  • Obtain copies of recent court proceedings, including bankruptcy records

  • Research your family tree by:
    • Using census records from the entire nation
    • Viewing naturalization records of new American citizens
    • Searching ship passenger lists for New York, Boston, and other ports
    • Using one of many computers with internet access
    • And more!

  • Attend a workshop and learn about archives and how to conduct research

  • Volunteer to assist other researchers
