Fire Updates / Advisories / Restrictions / Closures

 

Updated November 25, 2008

  • South Rim Fire Managers plan to complete burning of debris piles on Monday,     December 1, weather permitting.
  • November Fire declared out on the North Rim.  
  • There are no fire restrictions in effect today.
  • There are no smoke advisories in effect today.
  • Roads and facilities on the South Rim are open. 
  • North Rim roads will be closed to vehicular traffic starting December 1. 
  • Prescribed burns are planned this fall on the South Rim of the canyon. Visit our news release page below for the latest updates.

The Fire Danger Rating at Grand Canyon National Park is Moderate.

The National Park Service asks visitors and residents to be cautious when dealing with possible sources of ignition. To ensure public safety and to provide the highest degree of protection to park resources, please observe the following regulations:

  • Keep campfires in established fire pits and grills in campgrounds and picnic areas along the rims and in fire pans along the Colorado River.

  • Use an ashtray when smoking.
