Dr. Rene Martin is a nurse - health psychologist who joined CRIISP in 2006. Her program of research investigates how lay people make decisions regarding symptom self-management and seeking health care. She has been the principal investigator of projects sponsored by the VA, American Heart Association and the National Institute of Nursing Research (NIH) that evaluated how gender, stereotypes, and social influence processes influenced treatment delay behavior among people suffering symptoms of acute myocardial infarction.
