Dr. Wakefield is a CRIISP Investigator, a Veterans Affairs Health Service Research & Development Advanced Career Development Awardee, as well as the new Director of Health Services Research Harry S. Truman VA Medical Center, in Columbia, MO. Dr. Wakefield's multi-method research focuses on assessment and improvement of outcomes in older patients; the professional culture surrounding patient safety issues; and application of innovative strategies of health care delivery based on tele-medicine. Her current work focuses on evaluating tele-health home care for recently discharged patients with heart failure. Although Dr. Wakefield has assumed a new position in Columbia, she retains her current grant within CRIISP.
