Kelly Richardson, PhD

Data Analyst

PhD University of Iowa, 2006

Dr. Richardson is a Data Analyst with CRIISP. She has expertise in Spatial analysis, Racial and ethnic disparities and Advanced missing data techniques. As a sociologist Dr. Richardson brings a unique perspective to the investigation of racial and ethnic segregation on the health outcomes of blacks and whites. She looks at disparities in these outcomes after coronary artery bypass graft surgery such as repeat surgery and increased rates of mortality. Dr. Richardson also looks at the importance of maintaining a single source of medical care. This study compares the health outcomes, namely mortality rates, of veterans using either VA health care or Medicare exclusively and those veterans who utilize both systems. The study hypothesizes that veterans utilizing a single source of medical care will have lower rates of mortality than those who use more than one system.
