Undifferentiated fever may be the most common manifestation
of dengue. A prospective study of dengue infections in 4- to
16-year-old students in Bangkok, Thailand, found that most students
who became infected by dengue virus90 out of 103, or 87%were
either asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic, and were absent
from school only one day. Other prospective studiesincluding
all age-groupshave also demonstrated this type of "silent"
dengue transmission. |
