Take Pride in Acadia Day 2008
The 2008 Take Pride in Acadia Day was a big success. More than 300 volunteers of all ages gathered on a sunny November morning to help clean up the park's historic carriage roads. They cleaned 12.5 miles of the carriage roads altogether, removing fallen leaves and clearing drainages. This important work helps water drain from the carriage roads, protecting them from wet weather in the winter and spring.

Take Pride in Acadia Day also marked the last event in the Acadia Quest, a series of fun adventures in the park that encourage families to explore, learn about, and protect national parks. All teams that completed the Acadia Quest were eligible to win one of three prizes, donated by Friends of Acadia and L.L.Bean. The prizes were awarded after groups returned from their leaf-raking duties.
