Journal of Transportation and Statistics
NOTE: The Journal of Transportation and Statistics has been discontinued by BTS because of budget constraints. Papers are therefore no longer being accepted or considered for publication. BTS hopes to bring the Journal back as a virtual publication in the future, and will post any news about the status of JTS on this page.
The Journal of Transportation and Statistics (JTS)
is a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal sponsored by
the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) of the
U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).
Its 28-member Editorial Board is made up of prominent individuals in academia and DOT. The journal
serves the transportation community by increasing the
understanding of the role of transportation in society,
its function in the economy, and its interactions with
the environment. In addition, the JTS provides a forum
for the latest developments in transportation information
and data, theory, concepts, and methods of analysis
relevant to all aspects of the transportation system.
The JTS publishes original research on the use of
statistical and economic analysis
to improve public and private decisionmaking for transportation. We are soliciting contributions that broadly support this objective. Examples of the type of material sought include:
- measuring transportation activity and the performance of transportation systems
- advancing the science of acquiring, validating, managing, and disseminating transportation information
- analyzing the interaction of transportation and the economy
- measuring how transportation affects the environment
The views presented in the articles in this journal are
those of the authors and not necessarily the views of the
Bureau of Transportation Statistics. All material contained
in this journal is in the public domain and may be used and
reprinted without special permission; citation as to sources
is required.
