The Maryland Fishery Resources Office (MFRO), located in Annapolis, coordinates fish tagging programs in cooperation with federal and state agencies along the eastern seaboard.  The Cooperative Tagging Program has provided critical information for striped bass restoration, and will likely be as important to sturgeon, shad, and horseshoe crab conservation.
