Access:
Drive US Highway 2 to mile marker 56.6 between the town of Skykomish and Stevens Pass. Turn south onto Deception Creek Road (FS Road #6088). Continue for one mile to the trailhead. Hike 10.3 miles south on Deception Creek Trail #1059 to Deception Pass and the junction with Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail #2000. Trail #1066 to Clarice Lake begins at this junction heading north.
A Northwest Forest Pass is required for each vehicle parked at the trailhead.
Attractions & Considerations:
The trail begins at Deception Pass, which is accessed via the Deception Creek Trail #1059, the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail #2000, or the Cle Elum River Trail #1376. This area is in Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Clarice Lake Trail heads north then northwest of Blue Ridge ascending and descending 3.4 miles to the junction with the Marmot Lake trail #1066.1. Marmot Lake is 0.7 miles west from the junction and spans 135 acres at 4900 feet elevation. Continue north on trail #1066 another 0.6 mile to Clarice Lake, a 40-acre lake situated at an elevation of 4500 feet.
Notes:
- Alpine Lakes Wilderness self-issue permit is required for day and overnight use, obtained at the trailheads from May 25 to October 31.
- The trail is closed to motorized vehicles and bicycles.
- The trail is open to stock, to the junction with #1066.1.
- Maximum group size is 12, people and stock combined.
- Camp in established campsites.
- Campfires are prohibited above elevation 4000 feet.
