Attractions & Considerations:

This trail is primarily used to access the several lakes between Pratt Lake and Mason Lake. Mt. Defiance is reached by climbing up a ridge after passing Mason Lake. Mt. Defiance is known for its spectacular array of wildflowers, which bloom on top of the ridge's saddle from early to mid-July. Views of Mt. Rainier and the Snoqualmie River valley are breathtaking on a clear day. At the far end of the saddle the trail splits, heading to the right and uphill to the peak of Mt. Defiance. Continuing ahead and down the back side of the mountain, leads the hiker into the seldom traveled valley of Thompson Lake.
