ATSDR MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT
ATSDR extends public comment period for public health assessment for North Railroad Avenue Plume site in Española, N.M., through June 20, 2003.

ATLANTA - The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has extended the public comment period for its public health assessment (PHA) of the North Railroad Avenue Plume site in Española, N.M., through June 20, 2003.

The public comment period, originally slated to close May 20, 2003 has been extended to June 20 based on a request from a local community group. Members of the community are invited to provide feedback and comments on the current PHA. ATSDR will incorporate community input into its final PHA.

Comments on the public health assessment must be made in writing. Mail comments to:

Comments received, without the names of individuals who submitted them, and ATSDR's response to the comments will appear in an appendix to the final public health assessment. Names of those who submit comments, however, will be subject to release for requests made under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act. Community members seeking information on the procedures or the content of the PHA may contact environmental health scientists Robert Knowles or Annmarie DePasquale, toll free at 1-888-422-8737.
