ATSDR to hold DuPont DeLisle site public meeting in DeLisle, Miss.

For Immediate Release: May 27, 2003

ATLANTA – The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), a public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, plans to hold a public meeting to discuss the public comment version of a public health consultation on the DuPont DeLisle site in DeLisle, Miss.

The meeting will be held on June 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the Pass Christian City Hall, Council Room, 200 West Scenic Drive near DeLisle in, Pass Christian, Miss. Members of the community are invited to attend the public meeting to hear the results of the public health consultation.

ATSDR investigated groundwater near the DuPont DeLisle facility to determine if area wells had been contaminated.

ATSDR will develop two additional public health consultations to evaluate air emissions and dioxin exposures to contaminated waste. Upon completion of the documents, additional public meetings will be held in the community to release the results and answer questions.

Comments without the submitters' names received during the public comment period, and ATSDR's responses to the comments will appear in an appendix to the final public health consultation. Names of those who submit comments, however, will be subject to release for requests made under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act.
