ATSDR MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT

Federal Agency to host Environmental Health Fair and Respiratory Health Information Session in Savannah, GA on May 31, 2008

 

For Immediate Release: May 16, 2008

ATLANTA—The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) will host an Environmental Health Fair for residents of the neighborhoods surrounding the International Paper Company, Savannah Complex on Saturday, May 31 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. As part of the Health Fair, there will be a Respiratory Health Information session from 12:00PM-1:00 PM. These events will be held at the:

Hudson Hill Community Center
2227 Hudson Street
Savannah, GA 31419

Residents are encouraged to come to the Environmental Health Fair and the Respiratory Health Information session to learn more about ways to protect their health. There will be food, games for children and entertainment provided by the Citizens for Environmental Justice (CFEJ) and the Hudson Hill, West Savannah, and Woodville Neighborhood Associations.

A variety of health-related materials will be available:

• Blood pressure screening
• Dental information
• Environmental health information
• Home and fire safety information
• Lead Awareness Project information
• Lead testing kits
• Odors, asthma, sun protection and respiratory health information
• Other health-related information

In addition, the following agencies, organizations, businesses and associations will also be participating in this event:
