ATSDR to Host Open House Session about Upcoming
Environmental Health Activities at the Lusher Avenue Groundwater Contamination Site



For Immediate Release: October 31, 2008

ATLANTA—The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry will hold an Open House in Elkhart, Indiana to gather community health concerns from residents of neighborhoods near the Lusher Avenue Groundwater Contamination Site.  The Open House will occur:

November 5, 2008
1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
at
Calvary United Methodist Church

Elkhart, IN  46516

and

November 6, 2008
1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
at

Elkhart, IN 46517

The Lusher Avenue Groundwater Contamination Site is an underground mass of contaminated water located in Elkhart, IN.  In the late 1980s, the Elkhart County Health Department discovered TCE and TCA in water samples collected in more than 100 wells.
