Vaccine Research Center Announces a New Vaccine Campaign—Be the Generation

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Vaccine Research Center (VRC) announced a new media campaign to increase awareness of investigational HIV preventive vaccines. Because of advances in HIV treatment, people are living longer with HIV—more than 40 million people are currently infected with HIV worldwide. Even though treatment is available, it may not be available to everyone; thus many people are still dying from complications due to AIDS. In order to end the global AIDS epidemic, the world needs a strategy that focuses on both treatment and prevention. The Be the Generation campaign challenges young Americans to be part of the generation that ends AIDS through the discovery of a safe and effective HIV vaccine.
