When I run Ferret V5 on an Intel machine running Debian Linux, why do I get this error:
$ libtermcap.so.2: not found
and Ferret won't run?
The reason this occurs is that Debian Linux uses the terminfo database and ncurses library, rather than the termcap library, to describe terminal interface routines.
The solution is to download, from Debian, the termcap-compat package and install it. More details on this can be found at the Debian site:
