Lynda Anderson PhD

Director, Healthy Aging Program, Division of Adult and Community Health, NCCDPHP

 

Lynda Anderson PhD, joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the summer of 1992. She is the Director of the Healthy Aging Program in the Division of Adult and Community Health, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion at CDC. She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, Atlanta. Dr. Anderson has been involved in gerontology since the mid-1970′s.

Dr. Anderson received her doctorate from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health and a two-year National Institute on Aging Postdoctoral Fellowship in aging at the Duke University Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development. Her research interests include provider-patient communication, moving science into practice, and the development of measures such as the Trust in Physician Scale.

The Healthy Aging Program serves as the focal point for older adult health at CDC. Dr. Anderson is responsible for leading innovative projects to facilitate the translation of research to practice to improve the lives of older adults.

Dr. Anderson has over 90 publications in peer reviewed journals and has authored several book chapters and served as the guest editor for special issues in journals such as Health Education & Behavior and American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
