Senate Calendar of Business: About

Cover Senate Calendar. The Senate Calendar of Business is prepared under the direction of Nancy Erickson, Secretary of the Senate, by David J. Tinsley, Legislative Clerk, and identifies bills and resolutions awaiting Senate floor actions. It is updated on GPO Access each day the Senate is in session. The Senate calendar consists of the following sections:

  • General Orders
  • Resolutions/Orders to Lie Over
  • Bills in Conference
  • Reconsideration Motions
  • Pending Business
  • Joint Resolutions
  • Appropriations

Most measures are placed on the calendar under the heading "General Orders" in the sequence in which they were added to the calendar. Other sections are provided to address special situations in which floor actions have been deferred and to show the status of bills in conference and of appropriations bills.
