A Note About Chasing Data and Data Sources

As a general rule, the Arthritis Program at CDC recommends that surveillance data at the state level be used to serve programmatic purposes. We discourage analyses that do not have a direct programmatic purpose. Data are provided to each state (standard tables and cost estimates) using BRFSS data. These data are usually sufficient to describe burden for your partners, policy makers and others interested in arthritis. Unfortunately, state programs have insufficient resources to conduct extensive epidemiology investigations. For further information see the state surveillance recommendations from the CDC Arthritis Program.
