Funding for Extramural ResearchCDC conducts or supports research to strengthen the public health science base for arthritis. Public health programs need to be based on sound science. CDC research projects better define risk factors for the development and progression of arthritis, improve surveillance methods to better define the impact of arthritis, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to improve self management attitudes and behaviors among people with arthritis.
