The 2007 Pacific Risk Management ‘Ohana (PRiMO) Annual Meeting will be co-sponsored by the Pacific Disaster Center this year and held at their Headquarters, 1305 N. Holopono Street, Kihei, Maui on March 14 – 16, 2007.  A PRiMO Navigators Council Meeting will take place on March 13.  All participants should plan to arrive in Maui (Kahului Airport) the afternoon or night before the scheduled meetings: March 12 for Navigators and March 13 for all other participants.  The March 16 closing session will end by noon.

Accommodations for all PRiMO participants have been arranged at condominium apartments in the Kihei area, at or below government lodging rates for Maui.  This is the high season for tourism on Maui, and all nearby hotels are charging room rates significantly higher than the government rate, which necessitated the need to use condo apartments for this meeting.  The NOAA PSC meeting staff will make housing assignments based on date of arrival, and other factors as listed below.  The rates for each unit vary depending on size and location, but as noted above, are at or below government lodging rates for Maui.

PRiMO participants will be staying at four condo apartments, all located on South Kihei Road: Maui Kamaole (all Navigators), Hale Kamaole, Kamaole Sands and the Mana Kai Maui.  The Maui Kamaole, Hale Kamaole and Kamaole Sands are all fully equipped condominium apartments on the mauka (mountain) side of Kihei Road.  The Mana Kai is a converted hotel which is located on the Kihei beachfront.  A number of Maui Kamaole and Hale Kamaole condo apartments are two bedroom units, and participants are asked to indicate whether they are willing to share a two bedroom unit with another PRiMO participant.  Depending on the size of the unit, family members are welcome to stay at no additional charge, and those who plan to bring family members should indicate below.  Also, anyone wishing to stay longer than the meeting dates may qualify for the same rates for additional nights.

Since these are condominium apartment rentals, unlike a standard hotel, guests will be required to provide a refundable $250 damage deposit by credit card.  Also, except for the Mana Kai, there is no daily maid service, just check-out cleaning.

Shuttle bus service will be provided for participants to travel from the apartments to the meeting site in the morning, and return to the apartments at the close of the meetings.  Shuttle service will also be provided for all conference-related events.
