National Alliance for Hispanic Health (NAHH)The National Alliance for Hispanic Health (NAHH) serves Hispanic communities nationwide through its membership of thousands of frontline health providers and organizations. NAHH fulfills its mission by working with community-based organizations; universities; federal, state, and local governments; foundations; and corporations. Founded in 1974, this national nonprofit organization pursues its mission by conducing national demonstration programs, coordinating research, and serving as a source of information, technical assistance, and policy analysis. NAHH is governed by a volunteer board of directors and managed by its president and chief executive officer. NAHH provides national leadership in identifying and responding to health and human services needs of Mexican American, Puerto Rican, Cuban American, Central American, and Latin American populations. NAHH pursues programs in research, health promotion and disease prevention, and education and training of health care providers. For example, NAHH works primarily with community-based organizations in targeting difficult and complex issues such as juvenile delinquency, child and sexual abuse, adolescent pregnancy, diabetes, and AIDS. NAHH pursues programs in research, health promotion and disease prevention, and education and training of health care providers. Under a new cooperative agreement, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) and NAHH will work together to provide environmental health education to health professionals who serve Hispanic communities.
