Abstract:

This policy brief describes services offered by Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs) to the elderly, disabled, and mentally ill living in rural areas. It discusses patients’ trust in services provided by ALFs compared to those offered by nursing homes. The brief presents results from a survey that found a shortage of ALFs in rural settings and a low availability of private rooms.
