Pentagon Memorial Service Set for Thursday at 11 a.m.

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld will host a memorial service for those lost in the attack on the Pentagon on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at 11 a.m. EDT, at the Pentagon River Parade Field.

President George W. Bush is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the ceremony. The theme of the ceremony is "United in Memory."

Admittance at the ceremony is limited to previously ticketed personnel.

The head-on main camera position will be provided on a pool basis. The point of contact for the network pool will be Tom Seem at (202) 457-4542, cell (202) 253-3207 or e-mail tsx@cbsnews.com . The point of contact for the independent pool will be Mark Farkas at (202) 626-4850 or e-mail mfarkas@c-span.org . All other positions will be covered unilaterally.

Equipment must be pre-set by 6 a.m. on Oct. 11th for security sweeps.

The media entrance to the memorial ceremony site will be at the security checkpoint at the North Parking end of the Lower River Parade Field. Media must present a valid photo identification and a valid photo press identification for credentials and admittance. Media should be at the security checkpoint no later than 10 a.m. EDT. Media interested in audiovisual coverage of this event may contact Terry Mitchell at (703) 695-0169.

The ceremony will also be up-linked live to satellite. The satellite coordinates are:

The ceremony will be carried live on channel 13 of the Pentagon's internal cable system and around the world by the American Forces Radio and Television Service.
