Today in the Department of Defense, March 3-5, 2001

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz are in Washington this weekend. There are no public or media events on their schedules.

President George W. Bush will deliver the principal address at the christening ceremony of the Navy's newest aircraft carrier, Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), on Sunday at Newport News, Va. See the news release for details.

The Court of Inquiry appointed to investigate the collision between USS Greeneville (SSN 772) and the Ehime Maru opens Monday at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. See the Pacific Fleet Web page for details (page no longer available).

The 17th annual DoD Logistics Conference begins Monday in San Antonio, Texas. See the conference Web site for details. [link no longer available]

The next regular DoD news briefing will be held Tuesday, March 6 at 2 p.m. in the DoD briefing studio, Pentagon room 2E781. The briefer will be Rear Adm. Craig R. Quigley, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for public affairs.
