GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT

Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Air Force Gen. Ralph E. Eberhart, for appointment to the grade of general with assignment as commander in chief, U.S. Space Command; commander in chief, North American Aerospace Defense Command; commander, Air Force Space Command; and Department of Defense manager for Space Transportation Systems Contingency Support, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Eberhart is currently assigned as commander, Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va.
