The Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President
has nominated Lieutenant General Joseph W. Ralston, United States Air Force,
for appointment to the grade of general with assignment as Commander, Air
Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. Lieutenant General Ralston
is currently assigned as Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans and Operations,
Headquarters United States Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, DC.
Lieutenant General Ralston was born November 4, 1943, in Hopkinsville,
Kentucky.
