Benefits

The School of Public Health and Health Services (SPHHS) offers an outstanding, Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accredited academic experience in the Nation’s Capital, and dedicated faculty and staff, who serve you as ongoing resources throughout the academic and overseas experiences, and as alumni of the program. The foremost benefit of the Master's International Program with the Peace Corps is that upon successful completion of university requirements and Peace Corps service, you will have a master's degree and two years of international experience to show for your efforts. Master’s International program students at SPHHS complete their Practicum and Culminating Experience curriculum requirements (4 credits) while in the Peace Corps and receive a four credit scholarship to cover the cost of these course credits.

Description

The School of Public Health and Health Services (SPHHS) is a CEPH accredited school and offers a variety of MPH programs including: Biostatistics, Community Oriented Primary Care, Environmental and Occupational Health, Epidemiology, Global Health, Health Policy, Health Promotion, Maternal and Child Health, Public Health Communication and Marketing, and Public Health Management. The Global Health, Health Promotion, and the Maternal and Child Health programs have been popular academic programs among students in the Master's International Program with the Peace Corps. Each MPH program consists of required core courses (18-19 credits) and program-specific courses to complete the 45 credits required for the degree. Requirements

Applicants to the School of Public Health and Health Services (SPHHS) graduate degree programs must have earned the minimum of a bachelor’s degree. The Committee on Admissions considers the entire application when making admission decisions. Educational experiences, test scores, a resume outlining work and volunteer experiences, letters of recommendation, and the personal statement are all factors in the Committee's decision to accept applicants to the School. The SPHHS Admissions Application outlines the requirements in detail. SPHHS is a SOPHAS participating school and applicants are required to complete the SOPHAS application (www.sophas.org) and the SPHHS Secondary Application.
