About the Rocky Mountain Region

Western's Rocky Mountain Regional OfficeThe Platte River Power Authority in Colorado, Nebraska Public Power District, Kansas Electric Power Cooperative, and Wyoming Municipal Power Agency are just some of the customers served by Western Area Power Administration's Rocky Mountain Customer Service Region. Serving these customers with reliable power at competitive prices is one of the region's main commitments. As the utility industry changes, the region will also continue to focus its commitments on providing customers with quality, customer-focused service that adapts to their needs.

For our customers...

Western's mission is to market and transmit reliable, low-cost power, provide related services and encourage efficient energy management in an environmentally-sound manner. Contributing to that mission is the Rocky Mountain Customer Service Region, which was created from the former Loveland Area Office during Western's Transformation process in 1995.

The Rocky Mountain Region is one of four regions within Western Area Power Administration, a Federal Power Marketing administration. Western sells and delivers wholesale power to cities and towns, rural electric cooperatives, public utility and irrigation districts and Federal agencies. These customers have a priority (or preference) to receive Federal power.

Rocky Mountain serves its preference customers in Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Kansas.  We sell more than 2.3 billion kilowatthours of power, generating from 19 hydroelectric plants.  These plants are part of the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project and the Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin Program--Western Division and sold as the Loveland Area Projects.
