Who Is Connected To HAN?
  • 50 States, 3 large City Health Departments, 3 County Health Departments, 8 Territories, and the District of Columbia
  • Health Organizations and Major Hospital Networks
Build Capacities In Local And State Public
Health Agencies To:

  • Connections to the internet
  • Train Public Health workforce via distance learning systems (satellite, Internet, or both)
  • Capacity to send urgent health alerts to local agencies to selected groups via information broadcast technologies (e.g., broadcast fax services, autodialing).
Supplemental Award (FY 2002)
All 50 states have funding for HAN goals pertaining to focus area "E" of the cooperative agreements.

Supplemental funding has also been added to each state regarding HAN'S core efforts

HAN Critical Capacities Supplemental Award - FY 2002

  • Ensure effective communications connectivity among public health departments, healthcare organizations, law enforcement organizations, and public health officials through, Internet connectivity (continuous, high-speed), E-mail notification, Directory of public health personnel
  • Ensures methods of emergency communications that are fully redundant with e-mail (two-way radios, cell phones, wireless devises)
  • Ensure ongoing protection of critical data and information systems and capabilities for continuity of operations
  • Ensure electronic exchange of information in standard formats

Enhanced Capacities

  • Provide or participate in an emergency response management system
  • Ensure full information technology support and services
