Lake Milton Build a Nature/Art center

Description: The Lake Milton Nature/Art Council (volunteer group) has received grants and conducted fund raisers to raise enough funds to build a nature center with amphitheater at Lake Milton State Park. With the ground work set to take place in the next several weeks, they are looking for volunteers to help with the clearing and the landscaping at the site. This is a joint project between Lake Milton State Park, Craig Beach Village, and the Lake Milton Nature/Art council, (a 501-C3 group). There is no age requirements, should wear work clothes and work shoes, food will not provided.

Description: Experience the enchanting high meadows of the San Pedro Parks Wilderness on a 3.5 mile backpacking trip. Surround yourself with alpine wildflowers in bloom as we reconstruct a section of the CDT. 12-15 volunteers. Minimum age: 18. Difficulty Key: Moderate. Project may include moderate hiking with some elevation change, or more physically challenging work activities. Backpacking/dispersed camping. Meals: TBD. South Pass Area Historical Study

Description: The Bureau of Land Management is seeking volunteers with experience in the recognition and recordation of historical trails and related features. The project involves walking and working in high altitude, desert environments. Volunteers are being sought with skills in mapping, filling out forms, four-wheel drive vehicle operation, photography, and writing. Computer and Global Positioning System experience are a plus but are not necessary.

Interested persons should contact the Rock Springs Field Office BLM, 280 Highway 191 North, Rock Springs, WY 82901 ATTN: Cultural Resources by May 1, 2006. Please include name, mailing address, a brief list of qualifications, and dates available to volunteer. There is limited space available and qualified volunteers will be taken on a first come basis. Qualified volunteers will be mailed a volunteer packet with more specific information.

Description: South Dakota State Parks is looking for volunteers for the 2006 spring, summer and fall season, various positions across the state are available. Both long-term and short-term volunteer activities exist. For individuals interested in long-term opportunities, some campsites are available for volunteers who wish to put in 24 hours per week for at least 30 days. Description: South Dakota State Parks are looking for volunteers to act as campground hosts for the 2006 spring, summer, and fall camping seasons at various state parks across the state. Duties will include helping visitors, doing maintenance, working on trails and leading naturalist activities. Campsites (most include full hook-ups) are available in the park in exchange for 24 hours per person per week. Description: The Bureau has partnered with willing landowners, the National Park Service Long-Distance Trails Office, the National Park Service National Landmark Office, the Oregon-California Trails Association, and the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office to complete documents research and field assessments necessary for completion of a designated boundary for the South Pass National Historic Landmark. The study will result in the evaluation of the condition of trails and trail related sites and features in the area. The Bureau of Land Management is seeking volunteers with experience in the recognition and recordation of historical trails and related features. The project involves walking and working in high altitude, desert environments. Volunteers are being sought with skills in mapping, filling out forms, four-wheel drive vehicle operation, photography, and writing. Computer and Global Positioning System experience are a plus but are not necessary.

Volunteers will be expected to provide their own food and water and be able to work in a variety of weather situations. Work days will involve roughly three hours of driving two and from the work site with roughly five hours of actual fieldwork per day.
