Lake Milton Build a Nature/Art center

Description: The Lake Milton Nature/Art Council (volunteer group) has received grants and conducted fund raisers to raise enough funds to build a nature center with amphitheater at Lake Milton State Park. With the ground work set to take place in the next several weeks, they are looking for volunteers to help with the clearing and the landscaping at the site. This is a joint project between Lake Milton State Park, Craig Beach Village, and the Lake Milton Nature/Art council, (a 501-C3 group). There is no age requirements, should wear work clothes and work shoes, food will not provided.

Description: Background: The National Parks America Tour is a volunteer-driven initiative designed to provide National Parks with manpower resources to complete important projects and engage communities in the National Park experience. Sponsored by Unilever, the National Park Foundation, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and Take Pride In America, the National Parks America Tour projects to donate more than 100,000 volunteer manpower hours to the National Park Service each year resulting in an annual in-kind donation of $1.6 million. The National Parks America Tour hosts 25 events each year providing volunteer and material resources to National Parks enabling them to complete a myriad of projects ranging from clean-ups, painting, trail restoration, installation of sustainable boardwalks to visitor use area improvements. The service-to-the-land activities enable volunteers to earn service hour credits while giving something back to America's treasures - its 388 National Parks. After completing service projects, volunteers are hosted to the Great American Picnic as we salute the best in America - its volunteers. Description: Build new Trail near the quaint Twin Lakes area, historic summer home to the Utes and where the Rio Grande and Denver Railroads stopped, allowing visitors to savor the area's beauty. 20-30 volunteers. Minimum age: 18. Difficulty Key: Moderate. Project may include moderate hiking with some elevation change, or more physically challenging work activities. Vehicle accessed camping. Meals: TBD. Description: South Dakota State Parks is looking for volunteers for the 2006 spring, summer and fall season, various positions across the state are available. Both long-term and short-term volunteer activities exist. For individuals interested in long-term opportunities, some campsites are available for volunteers who wish to put in 24 hours per week for at least 30 days. Description: South Dakota State Parks are looking for volunteers to act as campground hosts for the 2006 spring, summer, and fall camping seasons at various state parks across the state. Duties will include helping visitors, doing maintenance, working on trails and leading naturalist activities. Campsites (most include full hook-ups) are available in the park in exchange for 24 hours per person per week.
