About Colorado River Storage Project Management CenterThe Ak-Chin Indian Community in Arizona, the city of Aspen, Colorado, and Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico are a few of the vital customers of the Colorado River Storage Project's Management Center. Our customers rely on the Management Center's hydroelectric resources to competitively serve communities in the West. Whether the need is for lighting homes or providing power to local businesses, our goal is to provide customers with reliable hydropower. We are committed to serving customers on many different levels. For example, we assist customers in saving their valuable electrical resources by actively promoting energy management and conservation programs and helping them determine their future energy needs. When customers want new products and services tailored to their individual needs, we explore their ideas. We are also committed to protecting the delicate balance of the Colorado River and its tributaries. Agencies that manage this river's resources must weigh its many roles: irrigation, recreation, hydropower and native and non-native endangered species habitat protection. Balancing these resources with the needs of water and electrical energy customers is a chief concern. For example, we have been actively involved in ongoing environmental studies about the Glen Canyon Dam since the 1980's. These studies, along with similar studies of Flaming Gorge Dam and the Aspinall Unit, represent Western's commitment to protect endangered animal and plant species in and along the Colorado River. At the Management Center, we encourage an open and comfortable dialogue among all groups interested in protecting the environment.
