Scott Stearns heads up VOA's West Africa Bureau in Senegal after spending eight years in the basement of the White House covering the Bush Administration. He was previously VOA's East Africa Correspondent based in Kenya and worked in the English to Africa service in Washington after starting as a VOA stringer in Nigeria in 1992.
During that time in West Africa, Scott reported from the Liberian civil war for the BBC, the Associated Press, The Economist, The Jerusalem Post, and The Christian Science Monitor. He freelanced from Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Burundi, and Zaire.
He has a Bachelors and Masters in Journalism from Northwestern University.
Scott lives with his wife, Jodi, and their two children.
