Avian Influenza

Avian Influenza – Situation in Indonesia - Update 11 - June 25
The Ministry of Health of Indonesia has announced a new case of human infection of H5N1 avian influenza. A 3-year-old female from Riau Province developed symptoms on 18 June and has since recovered. Investigations into the source of her infection indicate exposure to sick and dead poultry.

Avian Influenza - Situation in Egypt - Update 18 - June 25
The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed a new human case of avian influenza A(H5N1) virus infection. The case has been confirmed by the Egyptian Central Public Health Laboratory and by the WHO H5 Reference Laboratory, US Naval Medical Research Unit No.3 (NAMRU-3).

CDC Health Information for International Travel 2008 - June 25
CDC Health Information for International Travel, known as the Yellow Book, is published every two years as a reference for those who advise international travelers of health risks. The Yellow Book is written primarily for healthcare providers, although others may find it useful.

Registration of Traveler Emergency Contact and Itinerary Information - June 18
Several airlines have registration processes that allow travelers to provide their contact information, emergency contact/next-of-kin information, and travel itinerary information in case on an emergency. In light of recent events involving an airline traveler with a potentially infectious disease, CDC encourages travelers to provide this information to ensure they can be reached in case of emergency.
