Community Health

Obesity in Children
A commentary on the critical role that providers play in addressing overweight and obesity in children, both in clinical and community settings is available in the print issue of the July Pediatrics journal. This article gives providers information on their unique leadership role in increasing the recognition of overweight as a compelling health problem, communicating sound, evidence-based strategies for reducing overweight, and identifying promising approaches that deserve additional testing.

The Guide to Community Preventive Services
CDC scientists and partners over the past 8 years have built a Stanley Cup-like prize worthy of use throughout public health. The Guide to Community Preventive Services (Community Guide), a public health resource that tells what works, how well, for whom, where, and (where possible) at what cost, is now available both in book form and on the Web (www.thecommunityguide.org).

Our Clinician Communication Team is committed to excellence in reporting our weekly updates.  Please e-mail coca@cdc.gov should you note any written errors or discrepancies.
