    Cruise Ship's Corrective Action Statement

Item No.: 08
Site: Preparation Room-
Violation: There was a non-continuous pressure backflow prevention device installed on the Baktec-Matic water dispenser hose that had a spray valve attached to the end. This was corrected during the inspection.
Recommendation: Ensure that a continuous pressure-type backflow preventer is installed when a valve is located downstream from the backflow preventer.

Site: Medical-
Violation: The 48-hour interviews with the close contacts of crew members with gastrointestinal illness occurred more than 72 hours after the initial interview on 4 recent occasions. On one occasion, the 24-hour interview occurred more than 4 days after the initial interview and the 48-hour interview was 2 days later.
Recommendation: Ensure that medical or supervisory staff conduct daily verbal interviews with asymptomatic crew until 48 hours after onset of the ill crew members symptoms.

Site: Galley-Supper Club
Violation: There were several items in the undercounter refrigeration units that were marked for time control that had 7-day date marking labels still on the items.
Recommendation: When an item is moved from cold storage to time as a public health control, ensure that the 7-day date marking label is removed.

Site: Buffet-Port Side Grill
Violation: There was food debris under the hot display unit. This area had been cleaned and was not in use.
Recommendation: Ensure that nonfood-contact surfaces of equipment are kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris.

Site: Buffet-Asian Counter
Violation: There was paperwork stored on top of clean bowls in an undercounter neutral cabinet.
Recommendation: Ensure that paperwork or other items that are not washed, rinsed and sanitized are stored on a different shelf or cabinet from clean items.

Site: Galley-Dishwash
Violation: There were multiple stacks of clean plates and bowls on the table adjacent to the clean end of the dishwash. These stacks were not covered or inverted.
Recommendation: Frequently move full stacks of the clean items from the dishwash to the clean storage area and ensure that they are covered or inverted.

Site: Preparation Room-Fish Preparation and Poultry Preparation
Violation: The handwash sinks in both preparation rooms were labeled 'out of order'. Staff stated that the batteries in the automatic sensors required replacement. There were no personnel working in these rooms during the inspection.
Recommendation: Ensure that handwash sinks are maintained in working order.

Site: Galley-Female Toilet Room
Violation: The door to the female toilet room in the galley did not close completely.
Recommendation: Ensure that toilet rooms are completely enclosed and shall have tight-fitting, self-closing doors which shall be kept closed except during cleaning or maintenance.

Site: Galley-Hot Galley
Violation: There was a leak under the bain marie of the hot line at the end by the potwash. This was corrected during the inspection.
Recommendation: Ensure that a plumbing system in a food area is maintained in good repair.

Site: Buffet-Forward Port Beverage Station
Violation: The drain line for the ice dispenser was not directed to the deck drain. There was water pooling on the deck.
Recommendation: Re-directed the drain line to ensure water does not pool on the deck.

Site: Preparation Room-
Violation: There were two small black flies near the potato peelers.
Recommendation: Ensure that the presence of insects, rodents, and other pests is effectively controlled to minimize their presence in the food storage, preparation, service areas, warewashing, and utensil storage areas aboard a vessel.
*Inspections scores of 85 or lower are NOT satisfactory
