Commission schedules conference to address Connecticut energy infrastructure issues

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has scheduled a technical conference to address critical energy infrastructure issues in Connecticut. In particular, the October 13 conference in Hartford is intended to provide a public forum for discussion of pending proposals for new power transmission lines and how those proposals will affect power grid reliability in Connecticut and New England.

The conference will examine the costs of addressing Connecticut's pressing energy infrastructure needs, and the potential allocation of those costs.

"We all want reliable supplies of energy at the lowest cost possible," noted Commission Chairman Pat Wood, III. "Unfortunately, investment in Connecticut's energy infrastructure has not kept pace with demand. Addressing that long-standing deficit and preserving reliability means incurring costs. This conference will help us and local officials insure those costs are reasonable and equitable," Chairman Wood said.

The Commission is contacting key policy leaders in Connecticut and the greater New England region to invite their participation. The conference is open to the public. A formal agenda will be published in the near future. A transcript of the conference will be made available.
