FERC's response to emergency conditions in the Gulf Coast region
The Commission, responding within its limited authority to aid Hurricane Katrina restoration efforts, today relaxed certain requirements for transmission providers, noting Commission rules allow transmission providers to “take whatever steps are necessary to keep the system(s) in operation,” notwithstanding any other requirements. The Commission also acted to extend filing deadlines in certain cases pending before the Commission involving companies affected by Hurricane Katrina.
