State Planning and Research (SP&R) Guide
Introduction
Welcome to the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Web Guide for State research managers and others involved and interested in the research portion of the SP&R Program. This Web portal links to reference materials, Web sites, and other useful materials. We appreciate and encourage you to provide feedback on additional resources that would be useful on this site.
As you browse through the various sections and links in this Web site, note that every FHWA office has a contact who can provide more detailed information. SP&R contacts at FHWA Division offices can be found here.
In addition, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ (AASHTO) Standing Committee on Research (SCOR)/Research Advisory Committee (RAC) is another source of information and assistance for transportation research. State research managers may visit the “Resource Center" portion of the SCOR/RAC Web site for a good overview of highway-related research programs and organizations.
Visit the "Model Calendar for State Research Directors" section on the SCOR/RAC Web site for general activity schedules and significant events related to liaison activities with AASHTO, the Transportation Research Board (TRB), and FHWA. Most of the events are related to the role of the research director as a member of AASHTO RAC, TRB State representatives, or FHWA SP&R State contacts.
