Donald P. Lay

Donald P. Lay, Senior Judge, US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, was on the panel that issued the initial decision in McDonnell Douglas Co. v. Green. Appointed to the court by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966, Judge Lay attended the US Naval Academy, and graduated from the University of Iowa, receiving a B.A. in 1949 and a J.D. in 1951. Judge Lay worked in private practice in Omaha and Milwaukee before his appointment to the federal bench.
