CDC's Chief Information Security Officer Receives GISLA 2006 Special Recognition Award

Thomas P. Madden (center), MPA, chief information security officer (CISO), is responsible for all aspects of the computer security program at CDC. His dedication to ensuring CDC's information security recently earned him the 2006 Special Recognition Award for his leadership from (ISC)². Thomas P. Madden, CDC's chief information security officer (CISO), recently earned the (ISC)² US Government Information Security Leadership Award's (GISLA) 2006 Special Recognition Award for his dedication to ensuring CDC's information security.

The GISLA is awarded by the (ISC)², the globally recognized gold standard for certifying information security professionals, annually to three federal government employees and is independent of professional certification.

Prior to becoming CISO at CDC, Madden was the computer security operations manager at a nuclear weapon production facility with responsibilities for classified, sensitive, and unclassified computer security programs.

He is recognized as a national expert on developing information security programs and was a featured panelist in the March 2003 issue of Information Security magazine and was a panelist at the 2004 Information Security Decisions Summit held in New York, the Gartner Annual IT Security Summit 2005, and has been featured at SecureWorld from 2003-present.

Madden holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's in public administration and is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
