Commission announces Tribal Liaison

Pat Wood, III, Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, today announced the appointment of Rollie Wilson as the Commission's first Tribal Liaison.

The Chairman commented, "I am delighted to have Rollie on board. He has a vast knowledge of Native American issues that will be invaluable to the Commission as well as to the public. The Commission is committed to promoting effective relationships with Native American tribal governments and Rollie's knowledge will ensure that we accomplish this goal."

Mr. Wilson will be responsible for establishing effective relationships with tribal governments before and during Commission proceedings, ensuring that tribal concerns are timely and adequately addressed, providing guidance to Commission staff on tribal governments and culture, and informing tribes of Commission statutes and processes.

The Tribal Liaison will be the Commission's contact on tribal matters associated with all areas of the Commission's jurisdiction.

Prior to joining the Commission, Mr. Wilson served as an attorney for the Office of the Solicitor at the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI). He represented the DOI in hydroelectric proceedings, including settlement negotiations, and worked closely with tribes on a multitude of issues. Prior to that, Mr. Wilson served as Counsel to the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin. In that position, he worked with federal and state agencies regarding tribal natural resource issues.

Mr. Wilson received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio; a Master of Science degree in Land Resources from the University of Wisconsin; and a Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
