Chairman Kelliher appoints Andy Black Director of External Affairs
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Joseph T. Kelliher announced today he has appointed Andy Black to be Director of the Commission’s Office of External Affairs.
“I am pleased that Andy Black has agreed to serve as Director of External Affairs for the Commission,” Chairman Kelliher said. “I have known Andy for many years, and have great confidence in his ability, experience and judgment. Andy will play a critical role further strengthening our relationship with Congress and the States.”
Mr. Black has 13 years’ experience working on Capitol Hill. Most recently, he served as Deputy Staff Director for the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee, a position in which he was involved in the policy, strategy and legislative operations for all activities of the Committee, chaired by Congressman Joe Barton of Texas. Prior to that, Mr. Black was Policy Coordinator for the Committee’s Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality, in which he played a key role in the development of comprehensive energy legislation passed by the House, including the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
Mr. Black received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Christian University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland.
The Office of External Affairs is the Commission’s primary point of contact with the public, Congress, international, federal, state and local government offices, public interest groups and the news media.
