Volunteering on Mark Twain National Forest

Public involvement plays an important part in managing our national forest lands. The national forests, grasslands, and prairies are there for you to enjoy because many people have served over numerous years to preserve, protect and improve them. We rely more and more on volunteers to assist with campgrounds, identify and preserve historic sites, build and maintain trails, and to accomplish other projects because the Forest Service, like other government agencies, has a limited budget. We extend a warm welcome to all who wish to volunteer on the Mark Twain National Forest.

Volunteering isn't just beneficial for the forests, it benefits you. It's fun, it can give you the opportunity to pursue a special interest, it has the potential to enrich and improve your life, and gives you a chance to give back to a forest or community.

Some of our featured volunteer opportunities include Campground Hosts, Adopt-a-Trail, Passport in Time, and other Trail Maintenance Opportunities. To find out how you can volunteer, please contact the district office where you would like to help. Their contact information can be found on the "CONTACT" page or the Forest Volunteer coordinator, Jane Mobley at 573-996-2153.
